Autobuoys: A smart augmentation
solution to the existing maritime security architecture
ABSTRACT: This paper presents a proposal to
harness the potential of the under-utilized data buoy deployments in open sea,
in the interest of national security. Although, significant changes and
developments have been made in this respect, the area lacks dynamism and vigor.
is our best form of open sea surveillance, which inspires probe into the
various possibilities to handle the worst of the national security scenarios.
With the concept of self-re-configuring topology using self-propulsion, fault
tolerant system implementation, advanced tracking and localization of potential
threats, and with some radical improvements in the reliability of the data buoy
deployments, this system could do its very best to augment the present maritime
security framework with invaluable data.
Keywords: Self-reconfigurable topology, redundant
systems, DTN(delay tolerant networks)
