My Tryst with the APIs

The 3M, it the pseudo-name i gave to the project i undertook from my new friends Varma, Bharat, and SK. They wanted a platform to allow people to exhibit their talents, especially singing. They were music freaks, so they kinda had it in them, that urge to get something out for their bros.

Well, me i thought i could help, just being a novice in getting things done, and with the extreme belief in Google, i started my first ever project.

They wanted seam-less, hassle-less user experience. How can it be done, Facebook!! They wanted Facebook to be the center of the user authentication system.

Bham... its easy, just grab a few codes from the net, put it in the www folder of ur wamp super machine( in case you are a php guy) and just click the magic button--localhost.

Well, bham went my head... i couldn't get anything running for a few months, right from my server configs to how to actually get things done my way.

I heard that PHP turned object oriented, and i saw a lot of DEPRECIATION warnings in the php.net site about the mysql_connect and mysqli_.

They say, use PDO, WTH is PDO. I googled, or rather php.net-ed, and found that PDO ( php data objects was the next thing in database manipulation for php). I dint go for the easy way, i burnt my midnight....eh, i'm sorry, i sat all through the night, over-revved my cooling fans, and finally, learned to actually prepare a statement. And now ask me what's PDO, well i'd say, let me refer...:-D

I also sat my ass through nights trying to figure out what the hell the youtube API documentation was talking about.
Well , its all going to end now, i'm actually going to piece it all together, all my code, my references, from the web and all over, which may help me in getting to the final piece.

To all those out there, who know they have that fire in their heart, and know that their fingers, and huge eyes, will work for hours, scavenging thorough millions of pages, bookmarking thousands, reading only a few...
I dedicate this blog-post session .

My Tryst with the APIs.....
